Walter M. Edge 84, Princeton Friday, January 31,1936 – Sunday, May 10, 2020

Walter Marian Edge, 84, a longtime resident of Princeton, entered into rest at Deaconess Gateway Hospital of Newburgh, IN Sunday, May 10, 2020, with his family at his bedside. He was also an 18 month resident of the Waters of Princeton. He was born on Friday, January 31, 1936 in Gainesville, GA to Jesse and Lillian Groover Edge whom preceded him in death. He is a veteran of the US Army serving from April 0f 1955 until April of 1958. After his service in the US Army he worked as a truck driver and was also a Land Surveyor working for Riley, Park & Hayden Surveyors. On May 12, 1973, in Petersburg, IN he married Carol Willis who survives of Princeton, IN. Other survivors include 1 son, Wallace James Edge of Gainesville, GA 3 daughters; Patricia Kroeger of Evansville, IN, Vickie Edge Davis (Eddie) of Dacula, GA and Mary Edge of Princeton, IN, 4 brothers; Johnny, Harold, William and Cecil (Bonnie) all of Gainesville, GA, 4 sisters; Betty Ray of Gainesville, GA, Louise Staton of Boaz, AL, Martha Ann Whitaker of Guntersville, AL. and Bessie Mae Stevens of Lula, GA. Also surviving are granddaughter, Alexandria “Lexi” Hornback of Princeton, IN and 4 grandsons; Jonathon P. Kroeger of Evansville, IN, Anthony Carpenter, Christopher Jones and Eric Root of GA.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 grandsons Jonathan and Joseph Root.
Doyle Funeral Home, 520 S. Main St. Princeton, IN has the privilege of serving the Edge family.
The family suggest memorials be made to the charity of the donor’s choice
In order to accommodate the mandates established by the federal government concerning the COVID 19 Virus, all services will be private. Military honors will be provided at a later date by our retired local military veterans. Walter’s final resting place will be in Logan Cemetery.
