Robert “Bob” Lee Doerner age 92 of Jasper, Buckskin, Somerville Area

Robert “Bob” Lee Doerner, age 92, of Jasper, IN, Formerly of the Buckskin/Somerville area and most recently a resident of the Villages of FL, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Legacy Living Center in Jasper, IN. He was born on Thursday, May 19, 1927 in Pike County to August and Velma Oestricher Doerner, both whom precede. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his discharge from the Army in 1951, he married Barbara Jo Norrick on November 2, 1952 in Oakland City, IN. Mr. Doerner was the assistant Manager for Sears Roebuck and Company in Princeton until its closing in 1984, retiring after 35 years of service. After his retirement from Sears he worked in the transportation department of the Pike, Gibson, Warrick Special Education Co-op. After several years He and Barbara then moved to The Villages in Florida. Once in Florida, be started new career and became known as the “Singing Greater” at Wal-Mart for the next twelve years. Bob was a member of both the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of Oakland City and the New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages of Florida. Bob was a member of several social and fraternal organizations including The American Legion both in Princeton and in Florida, The Indiana Free Masons Lodge 396 and was a former member of the Elks Lodge #634 in Princeton
Mr. Doerner was an avid sports fan and enjoyed manicuring his yard.
He is survived by his wife; Barbara of The Villages, FL son; Nick (Deena) Doerner of Petersburg, IN daughters; Robin (Ed) Boyd of Petersburg, IN and Cinda (Brian) Knight of Winslow, IN. Other survivors include6 grandchildren; E.J. (Addey) Boyd, Justin (Jacy) Boyd, Adam ( Amanda) Boyd, Megan (Jeremy) Glenn, Ashly (Jeremy) Hale and Chase Doerner Abbott, and 11 great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gus Doerner.
