Paula Joe Calvert February 24, 1967 – September 5, 2016

Paula Joe Calvert 49 of Evansville, made her path to glory to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 5, 2016. She had been fighting a relentless battle with breast cancer for the past 21 years and is finally at rest, fighting until her last breath. On a nasty, icy, and cold day in 1967 her father made the difficult trip to Evansville Indiana where she was born and raised. Ironically it symbolized her actions in life which were that of defying all odds and often forging a difficult path to success. She made a name for herself in her profession of home mortgage banking. Paula had spent the last 20 years working in the banking industry moving her way towards the top of the trade, and finally finding a true home and family with Evansville Commerce Bank. She was selfless and passionate finding a knack for helping others. She participated in a youth mentorship program, adopted multiple families every holiday to purchase gifts for underprivileged children, and was always going out of her way to give to others whenever the opportunity arose. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her knew she loved her family and friends dearly. She especially enjoyed watching her only grandchild Kennedy dance and sing to Mickey Mouse Club’s “Hot Dog Song”. She was preceded in death by her sister Teresa Hamilton and son Mitchel Calvert. She is survived by her Father John Hamilton; Fiancé Harold “Buddy” Swift; custodial child Diamond Richards; son Jeremy (Brittany) and grand-daughter Kennedy Calvert; and extended family member Dylan Swift. There will be no formal funeral services at her request, but rather a celebration of life at Oak Meadow Country Club located at 11505 Browning Rd. in Evansville, IN, on Thursday, September 8 from 5-8pm. Drinks and light hors d’oeuvres will be provided. We welcome her many friends and those she has touched during her time on this earth to come celebrate her life with us. My deepest sympathy to all of Paula’s family members and friends of the family. I had the pleasure of meeting Paula many years a go when began her employment with Morris Plan/Thrift, where I was also employed. She later moved on from there and became very successful in the same line of work. Congratulations to her for reaching for the top and making it, while battling a very serious illness.
