Joseph Gustav Herrmann, 78, of Newburgh, IN, passed away on September 24, 2018 at The Village at Hamilton Pointe in Newburgh, IN. Joe (an only child) was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 8, 1940 to Carl and Sabina Herrmann. After completing high school, Joe worked as a mechanical draftsman by trade. He married Patricia Anne Jawosz (d. 10/8/92) on June 12, 1966. Joe and Pat had three children: Carl (Charlene) Herrmann of Hoyleton, IL, Curt Herrmann of Tulsa, OK (d. 7/5/17), and Beth (Steve) Elpers of Haubstadt, IN. Joe was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren. His legacy to his family includes his unwavering devotion to the Traditional Catholic Faith and Mass, his generous caretaking of many elderly family members, his perpetual devotion to his wife Patricia who passed away from breast cancer, his love for the outdoors including baseball, hunting, fishing, and the shooting sports, and spending time with his family and friends. A solemn Requiem Latin Mass will be offered at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Evansville, IN where he was a member. Fr. Gavin Bitzer of Louisville, KY will officiate. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, IL. In lieu of flowers or other memorials, the family is graciously accepting Mass Intentions for the repose of the departed soul of Joseph.
