Jessie McConnell 8/11/2014

Jessie McConnell age 92, of Princeton, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2014 at the Gibson General Hospital in Princeton. She was born on September 30, 1921 to Anthony and Anna (Walter) Yeager. She was a lifelong area resident and on November 29, 1941 at St Mary Church in Washington, IN she married William McConnell. Jessie was a mother and homemaker who also worked side by side in the grocery, restaurant, and catering business’ with her husband, Bill. While Bill served as mayor from 1960 – 1972, Jessie served as the First Lady of Princeton, helping to provide good government for its citizens. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the D. of I. in Princeton and at one time actively involved in The St. Joseph P.T.A. During WW II she worked at the P-47 aircraft plant in Evansville where she was involved in the electrical installation of control panels. Jessie and Bill also enjoyed spending time with their friends and playing Bridge.
Survivors include husband of 72+ years, William and sons; William II (Charlene) McConnell of Patoka, Patrick McConnell of Princeton, IN, Michael (Jan) McConnell of Princeton, IN and Joseph McConnell, and daughter, Sister Jane McConnell O.S.F. both of Evansville.
8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by son, Anthony Raymond and sisters; Helen Barrett, Germaine Meuser, Mary Laverne McKimmy, Catherine Dosch and brother; Nicholas Yeager.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 S. Race St. Princeton, IN with Rev. Fr. Ron Zgunda officiating. Internment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Doyle Funeral Home, at 520 S. Main St. Princeton, IN with a Memorial Service at 7:00 P.M. and on Thursday at St Joseph Church from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, IN or St Joseph Catholic Church & School. Jessie’s family expresses gratitude for the wonderful care she received from the staff of the fifth floor skilled care unit at Gibson general hospital theses past ten months

    Rest in peace Jesse. Condolences to all of the family. Many childhood memories came rushing back from our days on South Race street on hearing of Jesse’s passing.
