Edward “Scott” McDaniels, age 59, Mt. Carmel, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at the Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, IL, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born on Friday, November 4, 1960 to Jerry and Dora Carver McDaniels, in Owensboro, KY. Scott grew up as the youngest of four and graduated from Princeton Community High School in 1978. Scott attended Oakland City College becoming a certified welder and small engine mechanic. He was part of the National Guard before joining the U.S. Army in 1985. While serving in South Korea, Scott met his wife, Chong, they were wed in 1989, going on to have two daughters, Crystal and Andrea. Scott retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant.
Scott was proud to own and operate Mac’s Sports Card Shop and MMK Computers for many years in Princeton. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching movies and playing video games.
Scott is survived by his mother, Dora McDaniels of Mt. Carmel, IL, wife, Chong McDaniels of Mt. Carmel, IL; daughters, Crystal (Oliver) deSilva of Madison, WI. and Andrea McDaniels of Mt. Carmel, IL. and grandson, Asher Shine. Other survivors include brothers, Thomas (Charlotte) McDaniels of Kilgore, TX and Joseph McDaniels of Princeton, IN; sister, Donna McDaniels of Mt Carmel, IL; uncle, Harold Brown Sr. of Rockport, IN and aunt, Martha Carver also of Rockport, IN, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Scott is preceded in death by his father, Jerry McDaniels; sister-in-law, Karen McDaniels and brother-in-law, Alfred Turner.
Doyle Funeral Home has the privilege of serving the McDaniels family.
There will be a Memorial service at 10:00am on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Doyle Funeral Home located at 520 S. Main St. Princeton, IN with Donnie Truelock officiating. Interment of cremains will take place immediately following the services at Columbia White church Cemetery with the retired veterans group providing military honors.
There will be a time of visitation with the family from 9:00 am until the time of service at 10:00 am. The family suggest in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Wabash County Animal Shelter Buddies at 11336 N 1550 Blvd, Mt. Carmel, IL 62863.
