Rosemary T. Newton, age 88, of Robinson, IL, formerly of Princeton, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Ridgeview Care Center located in Oblong, IL. Rosemary was born on Monday, March 4, 1929 to Arthur and Fern (Meriwether) Toney, both of whom preceded her in death.
On January 5, 1950 in Marengo, IN, Rosemary married Francis Edsel “Ed” Newton, who preceded her on September 18, 1971.
She formerly taught third grade at Lowell elementary school in Princeton and was a homemaker for several years after teaching. She continued to substitute teach in the Princeton Schools. She also worked for 17 years as a retail clerk at Hooks Drugs.
She will be sorely missed by her sons, Kent (Alicia) Newton of Milwaukee, WI, and Marc (Mari) Newton of West Chester, OH and her daughter, Elaine (David) Hasty of Oblong, IL. Other survivors include brother, Dale Toney of Corydon, IN, 10 Grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and special friend, Claire Stone of Princeton, IN.
Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Francis; her brothers, Charles, Sylvan and Leon Toney; and her sisters, Eva June Main, Betty Gould and Crystal Toney.
The family has entrusted Doyle Funeral Home, Princeton’s family owned, full service funeral home, with Rosemary’s arrangements.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Doyle Funeral Home, located at 520 S. Main St. in Princeton, IN 47670 with Pastor Chris Neikirk officiating. Internment will take place in Maple Hill Cemetery, also located in Princeton.
Visitation will take place on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
